We have been upping our burger game this summer. Trying new things, also trying different beef producers. We are starting to find some favorites, I will add more details soon. At the same time I can also get hooked on certain ingredients, liked canned green chilies. Omelette earlier this week and now this burger.
Burgers are a choose your own adventure. This recipe will make 4 burgers, unless you are like me and double up your patty. Have fun with toppings, we found a maple bacon onion jam that definitely makes these next level.
1 LB of Ground Beef
4 Burger Buns
4 slices of Cheese (we used co-jack/pepper jack would be awesome too)
Lettuce
Mayo
4 Whole Green Chilies Sliced Open
Salt/Pepper
-Form 1/4 pound patties. Generously sprinkle salt and pepper on both sides.
-Heat a gas grill to medium high. Brush the burgers with the oil. Grill the burgers until golden brown and slightly charred on the first side, about 4 minutes. Flip over the burgers. Cook beef burgers until golden brown and slightly charred on the second side, 3 minutes for medium or until cooked to desired degree of doneness. 145 degrees for medium rare. Add cheese and chili during last minute of cooking and close grill.
-Build your burger and enjoy.
